Outcomes of the 2025 Discovering Care program
A 2025 program aimed at creating insight into the experiences of People Living With Dementia and the individuals who contribute to their care.
The "Discovering Care" program was aimed at building deeper insight into the experience of People Living With Dementia and their supporters, and provide insight into what can be done to improve the experience of care.
It was executed under the University of Queensland's "Impact Academy" MBA course, founded on their "Humble Discovery" program. Humble discovery integrates design thinking, ethnography, and an approach to innovation and problem discovery centred on dialogue, and a sense of humility.
Throughout the work we partnered with the UQ My Anxiety Care team to gain insight into the topic of Dementia and what it might look like to find ways to support the individuals living through this journey.
The team would like to take the opportunity to thank the Carers, Researchers, Family Members, Primary and Allied Health Providers, UQ staff members, and People Living With Dementia that supported us in this work.
Over time, Dementia will touch nearly every person in our community, and it is as devastating as it is hopeful for almost everyone involved.
The initial work was conducted over a 5 month period in 2025, consisting of interviews, analysis, and experiments designed to further engage the Dementia community in Australia.
The Interim and Final playback decks are the key publications from the program, combining the output of interviews with Carers, Supporters, and People Living with Dementia, and the research and analysis of the program team. Both can be accessed below.
Update deck at the midpoint of the program as the team started identifying focus areas in the work.
Playback at the end of the program, incorporating out findings and recommendations on next-steps.
White the majority of the team graduated in 2025 at the close of this program there are still two key opportunities for next steps directly related to this work:
Continuation of the Dementia Support focus within future UQ Impact Academies, supported by other MBA candidates.
The opportunity to continue "Discovering Care", finding paths to tell the story of Carers in the Australian community.
We’re a UQ Business School team who conducted a Humble Discovery exercise on behalf of The UQ Centre for Clinical Research's "My Anxiety Care" program to better understand the lived experiences of people living with dementia and their supporters.
